| Four accused over Northern Ireland shooting
BELFAST (Reuters) -- Police in Northern Ireland said four men were due in court on Friday accused of attempting to murder an 11-year-old girl wounded in an attack linked to a feud by rival Protestant paramilitary groups. Charlene Daly was seriously wounded on Monday night when gunmen raked her home in a housing development in Coleraine that had been the scene of previous incidents in the turf war. "Four men from Coleraine are expected to appear at court this evening charged with the offence of attempted murder," said a spokeswoman for the Royal Ulster Constabulary. Police sources said the charge related to the shooting of the child, who suffered broken ribs and a collapsed lung. Three Protestant men have been shot dead in Belfast and rival gangs in Protestant areas have targeted homes in the tit-for-tat attacks that have flared for two weeks. Copyright 2000 Reuters.
