| CNN launches German web site
BERLIN, Germany -- CNN has launched its eighth local language Web site, this time in German. CNN.de, which is accessed at present through the www.n-tv.de web site, is the first German news site to be edited around the clock. It is being launched in partnership with n-tv, the German cable channel, and Die Teleboerse, the Frankfurt-based investment magazine produced by the Handelsblatt Group. The new site comes less than a month after the launch of CNN.com Europe, CNN's English-language site reporting international news from Europe. CNN.de is produced by joint online editorial teams in Berlin, Atlanta and New York where journalists have access to the full content of CNN.com. The site combines international news from CNN, German news from n-tv and business and financial news from Die Teleboerse. In depth"CNN is proud to extend its brand values of fast, accurate, impartial news to the German speaking online user," said Chris Cramer, President CNN International Networks. "CNN's credentials in online news delivery have been honed over the past five years since we first launched CNN.com and we welcome the opportunity to offer a German-language Web service as part of our on-going commitment to making CNN the multimedia news brand of choice in this key marketplace." As an editorial partnership the site has three urls. Users can access the site by clicking on n-tv.de or CNN.de to access news and an in-depth video archive. Business and financial news, including in-depth information on companies and stock markets, is available on Telebörse.de, CNN.de/Wirtschaft or n-tv.de/Wirtschaft. CNN will contribute to the extensive international news coverage. CNN already has a close working relationship with n-tv, Germany's only national news and business channel. Its programming includes 24-hour coverage of national and international news, plus extensive business, financial and political news programming and analysis, with lighter weekend programming on topics like travel to health. Time Warner has a 49.79 per cent equity stake in n-tv. Handelsblatt and Nixdorf are the other principal shareholders. CNN's presence in Germany also includes two news bureaux, a twice-daily German cable news programme, produced in conjunction with DFA, Deutsche Fernseh Agentur, and daily live programming out of Berlin on CNN International as part of CNN This Morning. CNN already has language sites in Italian, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Spanish, Portuguese and Japanese. RELATED SITES: Die Teleboerse | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
