| Annan names new U.N. humanitarian director for IraqUNITED NATIONS (CNN) -- U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan announced on Tuesday a new director of the U.N.'s humanitarian program in Iraq.
An official told CNN that Annan has named Ton Moyet of Myanmar to succeed controversial executive Hans Von Sponek who resigned, angered over continued U.N. sanctions on Iraq. Moyet is a director of resources for the World Food Program in Rome, the headquarters of the WFP, and a 25-year veteran of international service.
