| 13 killed in Egypt factory collapseCAIRO, Egypt (Reuters) -- Thirteen people were killed and at least 10 were missing after a six-story clothes factory was gutted by fire and then collapsed in northern Egypt late on Wednesday, security sources said on Thursday. Five firefighters were among those killed and a further 10 were missing, including the chief of the fire brigade in the Mediterranean city of Alexandria, Major-General Mohamed Raga'i, and his deputy. The sources said there were contradictory figures on those missing because some residents went into the factory before its collapse to help get the injured out. About 52 people were injured, the sources added. Only one person was killed during the fire itself. The others were killed when the gutted shell of the Zaitoun factory collapsed afterwards, the sources said. The cause of the fire was not known. Copyright 2000 Reuters. All rights reserved.
