| Gulf Air plane crashes into Persian Gulf
MANAMA, Bahrain -- A Gulf Air Airbus A320 on a scheduled flight from Manama, Bahrain, to Cairo, Egypt, crashed into the Persian Gulf off the coast of Bahrain on Wednesday, according to Bahrainian Information Ministry officials. The plane went down just after takeoff, said ministry spokesman Saeed al-Bably, who said that initial reports from the pilot indicated a fire in one of the plane's engines.
"We don't have any information about any survivors," said al-Bably. As many as 140 people may have been on board the plane, officials said.
