| Kuwait MP complains of BBC show on infidelityKUWAIT (Reuters) -- A Kuwaiti Islamist politician who wants to ban Valentine's Day and took umbrage at televised images of some women's Olympic events last week has complained about the airing of a BBC radio show on infidelity. Only one week after the BBC reached an accord to air some of its English and Arab language programmes in the conservative Gulf Arab state, Kuwait MP Waleed al-Tabtabaie sent a written parliamentary question about the BBC programme to Information Minister Saad bin Tiflah, newspapers said. "In its first (Kuwait) broadcast London radio 'provokes' al-Tabtabaie," said al-Qabas daily in a front page report on Monday. The two men have clashed before in parliament and the MP in the past threatened to question the minister in the elected house, a procedure which could lead to a no-confidence vote. Tabtabaie said the BBC's programme contained discussions of "male and female genitalia, and an interview with a woman who cheated on her husband." The controversial MP has also in the past complained against holding musical concerts and demanded a ban on celebrating Saint Valentine's Day in Kuwait. Last week he said coverage of women's Olympic sports contained "more sex than sports" and demanded a ban on some events. Copyright 2000 Reuters. All rights reserved.
