| Greek police seize 70 illegal Afghan immigrantsATHENS, Greece (Reuters) -- Police have seized 70 illegal immigrants from Afghanistan aboard two trucks in central Greece, a police spokesman said on Saturday. The immigrants, including three or four children, are believed to have reached Greece illegally by ship and been met on the coast by the two trucks on which they were heading for Athens when they were stopped. No further details were available. The immigrants and two Greek truck drivers were arrested and taken to the police department of Corinth, west of Athens, for questioning, the spokesman said. Thousands of economic and political refugees from Asia and the Middle East try to enter Greece illegally every year, often on their way to other European Union destinations. Copyright 2000 Reuters.
