Text of Palestinian announcement on understanding

GAZA CITY (CNN) -- The following is the text of the announcement issued by Palestinian Information Minister Yasser Abed Rabbo on Thursday announcing an understanding with Israel to bring about an end to violence:

"The Israeli and Palestinian parties had agreed in a meeting last night in Gaza to stop militant and violent confrontations, withdrawing the Israeli occupation army from around Palestinian cities and their gates and from Palestinian population areas, that to be executed starting from today, to be followed by dismantling all the closures and siege measures which were conducted by the Israelis throughout last weeks.

"The Palestinian leadership calls upon the Palestinian people and all Palestinian forces to stick to the unified position and continue organizing themselves and to use only the nonviolence means and ways in all of the stages of their national just struggle in order to reach their national and inalienable legal rights of freedom and independence."
