Rapper DMX signs deal for memoirNEW YORK (Reuters) -- Hip-hop star DMX, whose career has recently taken a major detour through Hollywood, has sold his memoir, "A Dogz Life," to HarperCollins, according to Variety. DMX, who'll topline Dimension's fourth installment of "The Crow" and star opposite Steven Seagal in Warner Bros.' "Exit Wounds," plans to chronicle his troubled childhood, multiple arrests and career as an actor and rapper. The book will have an inspirational slant. "The messages in his songs are positive," said Manie Barron, publishing manager of the Amistad Press, an imprint of HarperCollins. "He's trying to stop young people from following in his path." DMX's last record, "...Then There Was X," sold more than 3 million copies. Barron expects "A Dogz Life" to appear under the HarperEntertainment imprint in late 2001. Copyright 2000 Reuters.
