ALEXANDRIA, Virginia (CNN) -- DaimlerChrysler boasts that the gas-electric hybrid Dodge Durango sport-utility vehicle it plans to offer for the 2003 model year is 20 percent more fuel efficient than the current model, without losing power.
Environmentalists, however, say Chrysler competitors are doing a better job at saving gasoline. And consumers may squawk at the hybrid Durango's price tag -- it will cost about $3,000 more than the current $24,000 to $28,000 sticker price.
