Bush to nominate Atlanta attorney to No. 2 Justice jobWASHINGTON (CNN) -- President Bush on Wednesday announced his intention to nominate Atlanta attorney Larry Thompson, an African-American and former federal prosecutor in the Reagan administration, for deputy attorney general, the No. 2 position at the Justice Department. Thompson is currently a partner at the Atlanta firm of King & Spalding. The White House also said veteran Washington attorney Theodore Olsen also would be nominated for solicitor general, the administration's lead attorney for cases before the Supreme Court. Olsen handled the Bush campaign's arguments before the high court during the post-election battle over the Florida recount. Olsen is a partner in the Washington firm of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher. He was associate attorney general in the Office of Legal Counsel in the Justice Department, during the Reagan administration. RELATED SITES:
