Congressman asks agencies to tally alleged White House damageWASHINGTON (CNN) -- Rep. Bob Barr, R-Ga., has asked the General Accounting Office and the General Services Administration to quantify any damage caused by members of the outgoing Clinton administration. "I have become increasingly concerned with recent media reports of significant damage to the White House and the Old Executive Office Building which was discovered by the Bush Administration," Barr wrote in letters to both agencies, requesting they begin investigations immediately. A spokesman for Barr said investigations could lead to congressional hearings on the subject. Barr is a member of the House Government Reform Committee and a longtime critic of former President Clinton. Spokesman Brad Alexander said Barr was looking for a catalog of incidents in order to determine the extent of the damage and the cost of repairs to taxpayers. "He would look at the potential for hearings, depending on the extent of the problem," Alexander said, "But first we need to look at how large the problem really was." Alexander said Barr has received no response from the GAO or GSA. RELATED SITES:
