How are you healing?

In the wake of the World Trade Center attack, many have grieved for America, for lost friends and relatives, and perhaps even for a shaken faith in our future and in humanity. As time goes on, life slowly returns to normal, and people seek comfort and healing in many ways, whether through watching football, talking to neighbors or through prayer.

We asked our readers to send us their methods of healing. The response was overwhelming with e-mails reflecting the wide diversity of coping methods exercised by our readers. We thank you for your many interesting contributions, some of which appear below:

"Spending time with my little children and seeing the innocence in their faces, the trust and faith that they have is an inspiration to all." -- Jodie, Plymouth, IN

"Volunteering has been a big help for me. Knowing I have helped gives me the strength to go on." --Karenann Ebel, Elmwood Park, NJ

"I've allowed myself to go through the whole gamut of emotions a person goes through when they've lost someone they've loved, although I didn't. I still, somehow, felt the pain those that did lose loved ones felt. So, I've allowed myself to feel those feelings of shock and grief too." -- Lynda Demitrakis, Tarpon Springs, FL

"I design floral arrangements in unique compositions serving all Orange County... This past Saturday I designed florals for the funeral ceremony of Lisa Frost, one of the victims on the airlines that crashed into the World Trade Center building, and even though I didn't know her personally, I felt personally affected by her death because she was from my home town, Rancho Santa Margarita. As I was designing the florals, I hummed to the song "God Bless the USA" and thought of Lisa while I was placing [each flower] in place. I guess being part of doing something, even how small makes me feel that I have contributed with my time rather than just donating money." -- Rebecca Salimpour, Orange County, CA

"What is healing me the most is seeing the people of our country unite and show a kindness for one another unlike I have ever seen." -- Jessica L Johnson, Greer, SC
