WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Traces of anthrax have been found in the office of U.S. Sen. Richard Lugar, R-Indiana, in the Hart Senate Office Building, officials said Monday.

The Hart building is where an anthrax-filled letter was sent to Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle, D-South Dakota, almost one month ago.

Senate officials told Lugar's staff Sunday evening that small amounts of anthrax were found on a mail desk in the senator's office, which is on the third floor of the building's southeast corridor.

Lugar spokesman Andy Fisher said Monday that officials believe the source was cross-contamination in the mailroom from the Daschle letter -- the same source they cited in eight other discoveries made over the weekend.

U.S. Capitol Police spokesman Lt. Dan Nichols announced over the weekend that minimal amounts of anthrax were found in eight new areas of the Hart building.

On Sunday, anthrax traces also were found in the offices of Sens. Barbara Mikulski, D-Maryland; Max Baucus, D-Montana; Joseph Lieberman, D-Connecticut; Russ Feingold, D-Wisconsin; and Arlen Specter, R-Pennsylvania.

On Saturday, traces were found in the offices of Sens. Dianne Feinstein, D-California; Larry Craig, R-Idaho; and Bob Graham, D-Florida.

Capitol physician John Eisold said he isn't recommending treatment for those working in the offices because the amount of anthrax found was too small to be harmful and because the building has been closed for nearly four weeks, well past the incubation period for the biological material.
