Baby products recalledWASHINGTON (CNN) -- Two children's products are being recalled by the Consumer Product Safety Commission because of potential dangers to infants and caregivers, the agency announced Thursday. The CPSC, Cosco Inc. and Safety 1st, a division of Cosco, are recalling more than 170,000 bungee baby jumpers and more than 100,000 baby wipe warmers.
Baby bungee jumpers hang from a doorway and allow a baby to bounce in a seat while supported by an elastic cord. The recall warns metal clasps can detach from the cord, causing the seat to fall to the floor. Cosco has received 82 reports of the bungee jumper breaking. Fifteen babies have suffered bumps, bruises and scratches, most of them to the head. Model number 04-461 and 04-468 are being recalled. They have multi-colored fabric seats with a white plastic frame with a red foam trim. The baby bungee jumpers were sold from May 1996 through March 2001. They sold for about $40-$50 at juvenile product, mass merchandise, discount department, and specialty stores. The CPSC advised consumers to stop using the product immediately. Consumers can contact Cosco for a free repair kit. Safety 1st is recalling about 100,600 baby wipe warmers because of the possibility of an electric shock. The interior basin of the device, an electrical appliance that warms baby wipes, can crack, allowing moisture into the electrical component. There have been 17 reports of the basin cracking. No one has been injured. Model 26133 is the only wipe warmer effected by the recall. It was sold from December 1999 to January 2001. A yellow duck and the words "especially for baby" are printed on the lower left corner of the unit. It was sold with a diaper organizer at Toys "R" Us and Babies "R" Us stores nationwide. Consumers are advised to stop using the unit immediately and contact Safety 1st to receive a free liner for the interior basin. RELATED STORIES:
