Altman to film Gosford Park
HOLLYWOOD, California (CNN) -- The film world is buzzing with excitement over legendary director Robert Altman's next project. Altman, famous for Nashville, Pret-a-Porter, M.A.S.H and many others, is shooting his next film in England at Shepperton Studios, Variety magazine reports. Gosford Park, written by Julian Fellows, centres on the relations between different classes in 1930s Britain. Shooting begins March 19 at Shepperton Studios in England where Altman will also produce the film along with Bob Balaban. USA Films, who developed and distributed Steven Soderbergh's Traffic is in negotiations for U.S. rights to the film. The script takes its inspiration from Jean Renoir's La Regle du Jeu, and observes a group of people from upper, middle and lower class backgrounds who have come together for a dinner party on a lavish estate. The ensemble cast includes Jude Law, Kristin Scott Thomas and Emily Watson, as well as Clive Owen, Maggie Smith, Jeremy Northam, Stephen Fry, Joely Richardson, Helen Mirren, Michael Gambon, Richard E. Grant and Charles Dance. RELATED STORIES:
