Harris talks about 'Pollock,' Oscar nomination
(CNN) -- He's played real-life figures John Glenn, E. Howard Hunt and Gene Kranz -- not to mention fictional figures like the all-controlling Christof in "The Truman Show" and the villainous Gen. Francis X. Hummel in "The Rock" -- but Jackson Pollock has been on Ed Harris' mind ever since he read a biography of the artist more than a decade ago. "I was drawn to the guy, I was drawn to his work ... over the years I got more and more obsessed with it," Harris says. His determination finally paid off with "Pollock," which has earned Harris an Oscar nomination for his role as the title character. The nomination is his third (the others were for "Apollo 13" and "The Truman Show"), but Harris plays down the award's importance. Family comes first, he says. "Whatever happens is fine." CNN Showbiz Reports Correspondent Sherri Sylvester sat down with Harris to chat about "Pollock," the Oscar nomination, and the origins of his acting career. RELATED STORIES:
