Meeting up with 'Someone Like' Ashley Judd
(CNN) -- She's appeared in a string of suspense films and dramas, but Ashley Judd hadn't acted in a romantic comedy until her current film, "Someone Like You." It wasn't through lack of trying, she says. "It was definitely something I had been aspiring to," she told CNN's Lauren Hunter. "The movie kept unfolding in ways that were clever, and it felt like it had some meat on its bones." "Someone Like You" was warmly received in its debut, garnering positive reviews -- especially for the chemistry between Judd and co-star Hugh Jackman -- and finishing second at the box office.
Expect to see yet another side of Judd in the not-too-distant future. She recently signed with Warner Bros. to play Batman's purr-fectly curvaceous foe in "Catwoman," part of the studio's series of Batman films. She also recently started work on "The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood," based on the bestselling novel. It seems part of a continuing upward trajectory for the actress, daughter of country singer Naomi Judd (and sister of Wynonna), who got her first role in 1992's "Kuffs" and followed it up with a star turn in the independent film "Ruby in Paradise" (1993). More recently, she's appeared opposite Tommy Lee Jones in the box-office hit "Double Jeopardy" (1999) and with Natalie Portman and Stockard Channing in "Where the Heart Is" (2000). Judd recently chatted with Showbiz Today Reports correspondent Lauren Hunter about romantic comedies, theories of love and cheerleading. RELATED SITES:
