Ashley Judd weds in Scotland

LONDON, England -- Hollywood star Ashley Judd is believed to have married racing driver Dario Franchitti, giving the Scottish county of Sutherland its second celebrity wedding in a year.

The pair, who are staying at the exclusive Skibo Castle in Dornoch, Scotland, are thought to have tied the knot in an afternoon ceremony that is reported to have included about 300 guests.

There was no official confirmation of the marriage by Skibo management tonight, but throughout most of the afternoon, guests arrived at the castle gates in the Highlands by car and people carriers.

"The wedding is today," local registrar Lesley Conner told Reuters on Wednesday. She declined to say where the marriage was to take place, but added: "I am not performing the ceremony, so it will be a religious ceremony."

Judd followed in the footsteps of pop star Madonna when she posted the banns in Dornoch, prompting speculation that her wedding to Franchitti, a Scot, would also take place at nearby Skibo Castle.

Skibo Chief Executive Maryann Lutyens declined to comment, stressing the venue's reputation for maintaining the privacy of its clients. Madonna married film director Guy Ritchie at Skibo Castle a year ago.

Actor Edward Norton, narrator in the film "Fight Club," landed at Inverness, but he declined to say whether he was there for the wedding.

News reports listed actors Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas among the guests.

Judd has starred in films "Heat," "Double Jeopardy" and "Someone Like You."
