Puffy and Lopez in Valentine break-up
LOS ANGELES, California -- Singer Sean "Puffy" Combs has confirmed his relationship with Jennifer Lopez is over. The news, announced by the spokeswoman for the rap star, came on Valentine's Day after weeks of gossip surrounding whether the relationship was on the rocks. The romance between the sex symbol actress and the rapper has been the subject of rumours after Combs went on trial for gun possession and bribery in New York City -- stemming from a 1999 nightclub brawl in which three people were shot. He faces 15 years in prison if convicted of the gun charge. Lopez, who was with Combs the night of the altercation, was not charged. "Puffy's" spokeswoman Nathalie Moar added: "Mr Combs confirmed that he and his love Jennifer Lopez have in fact broken up. "Mr Combs is confirming this today as he wanted to put all the rumours surrounding their relationship to rest. "At this difficult time we ask that you respect his privacy." But Alan Nierob, spokesman for the actress and singer Jennifer Lopez, said he could not confirm or deny the break-up. While he has been in court, Lopez has been on the road promoting her new top-selling album, "J.Lo," and her new hit film "The Wedding Planner." Reuters contributed to this report. RELATED STORIES:
