Shawn Colvin showcases a 'Whole New You'

(CNN) -- It's been five years since Shawn Colvin's last record of all-new material, "A Few Small Repairs," which featured the Grammy-winning song "Sunny Came Home." In the interim, she had a child with her husband, Mario Erwin, and devoted her time to motherhood.

But now Colvin's back with a new CD, "Whole New You." She says that being a mother "probably" influenced the album.

"I'm not one of those people who knew I would have children," she says. "So it's an interesting role for me to take on, and it's probably on the record."

CNN Showbiz Today Reports correspondent Jodi Ross sat down with Colvin to chat about her new work. And Colvin took the time to play a song from "Whole New You."
