DUBLIN, Ireland -- U2's lead singer Bono has become a father for the fourth time after his wife Ali gave birth to a baby boy on Monday.

A spokeswoman for the Irish rock band told Reuters the baby was born in the early hours of Monday morning in a Dublin maternity hospital, weighing in at a healthy seven pounds and seven ounces.

"Mum, dad and baby are in good shape," she said, adding that the baby had not yet been named.

Bono is leaving U2's "Elevation" tour of North America for a week to be with his wife and family in Dublin.

He is due to rejoin the band on Thursday for a concert in Toronto, Canada.

Bono and his wife already have two daughters: Jordan, 11, and Eve, nine, and a son Elijah, who will be two in August.
