Rosie O'Donnell celebrates magazine launch
NEW YORK (CNN) -- TV talk show personality Rosie O'Donnell will celebrate the launch of her new magazine with a star-studded party Monday night in New York City. The new publication, which takes over the 4.2 million readers of the now-folded McCall's, is called Rosie. It will seek to reinvigorate the magazine's image and attract a younger readership aimed at new mothers, according to the publishers. The first issue, featuring Fran Drescher on the cover, hits newsstands nationwide Tuesday. It will include Rosie's interview with Drescher on her fight with uterine cancer. Human interest stories, lifestyle features and recipes will fill the monthly glossy. O'Donnell told The New York Times in Monday's editions that each issue will also feature "at least one socially relevant issue," including an entire edition devoted to the topic of depression in women. Rosie will be in competition with other celebrity magazines, primarily Oprah Winfrey's O and Martha Stewart's Living. Critics have already cited similarities between Rosie and O, saying the look is almost identical. The publishers of the magazine, Gruner+Jahr USA, said, "We don't think it's similar or not similar but was created to reflect Rosie." Other magazines published by Gruner+Jahr include American Home & Gardening, Family Circle, Fitness and YM. RELATED STORY:
