Julia Roberts, niece surface in 'Hokey' movieSNYDER, Texas -- George Strait, Bruce Willis and Julia Roberts all get face time in the flick, but Roberts' 10-year-old niece -- and a big steer named Hokey -- are the real stars. Shooting wrapped up Saturday on "Grand Champion," an independent film about some children who abscond with Hokey before he can be shipped to the butcher. One is played by 10-year-old Emma Roberts, who joined in the festivities Saturday, as Strait regaled a crowd of 2,000 with a rendition of the "Hokey Pokey" song, the Associated Press reported. The film's writer and director is Barry Stubbs, a Snyder native. Ex-altar boy Murray makes Mass exodusCHICAGO, Illinois -- Bill Murray calls her sister. Everyone else calls her Sister. The smart-alecky actor pursued a decidedly different career path from sibling Nancy Murray, who's now an Adrian Dominican nun. The movie star Murray served as master of ceremonies last week for the Benedictine Sisters of Chicago testimonial dinner, where his sister reportedly served as the source of some embarrassing stories from his childhood, the Associated Press reports. Among the revelations: Murray was booted out of Mass once when, as an altar boy, he dared to wear gym shoes to the service. Actress says theater demolition would be 'criminal'OMAHA, Nebraska -- One of the last three U.S. theaters that can show wide-screen Cinerama films is set to be replaced by a parking lot, but not if Patricia Neal has her way. In a letter published Sunday in the Omaha World-Herald, the actress pleaded for a reprieve for the Indian Hills Theater, which closed in September. The owners of the property say renovations would be too costly. "I enjoyed my visit there two years ago and found it to be one of the finest theaters I have ever seen," wrote Neal, who attended a fund-raiser at the theater two years ago. "To dismember this great theater would be a crime." Ed Norton keeps 'Score' with Brando, De NiroLOS ANGELES, California -- It wasn't just the opportunity to work with two of the greatest American actors ever that drew Ed Norton to the new film "The Score." "Let's be honest," Norton told the New York Daily News for a story published Sunday. "Here's a movie with Robert De Niro and Marlon Brando and I'm just going to go and do it for all the obvious reasons, to work with those guys. But beyond that, tweaked the right way, I thought this could be a classic genre movie." In the new film, Norton's cocky character gets caught up in a multimillion-dollar heist with criminal-playing elders Brando and De Niro. "I love those movies. I call them process movies, men-at-work movies, where it's all about watching guys do cool, arcane stuff," he said. |
