Chris Rock frets about becoming falling starWASHINGTON -- If the King of Pop can see his fortunes fall, Chris Rock figures, so can just about anyone. "Nobody's here to stay," Rock tells AP Radio. "What's the last hit Michael Jackson had?" The former "Saturday Night Live" comedian, who appears in the new film "Pootie Tang," says he suspects he'll always maintain some celebrity. "I'll be around. Because of my body of work I guess I'll probably be famous on some level for the rest of the life. But will I always be able to get a movie green-lit? Will I always sell out concerts? I don't know." Rock has a supporting role in "Pootie Tang," which is based on a character from his HBO show. "It's not a huge movie. It's a little movie," he says. Steven Seagal adds rock 'n' roll to resumeLOS ANGELES, California -- We know Steven Seagal can save the world from terrorists. But can he carry a tune? Concertgoers in Jamaica will find out when he and his six-member band perform at the Sashi Experience 2001 benefit on August 26. Seagal plans to perform several songs from an album set for release in September, the Associated Press reports. "We plan to give a shocking performance," says Seagal, star of an array of action flicks including "Under Siege" (1992) and this year's "Exit Wounds." Seagal says his interest in music dates back to the 1960s and he credits influences including Curtis Mayfield, Procol Harem and Jimi Hendrix. Second show added to Michael Jackson feteNEW YORK -- Just one 30th anniversary celebration won't suffice for Michael Jackson. Organizers of a September 7 concert marking Jackson's 30 years of solo recording have added a second show at Madison Square Garden on September 10, the Associated Press reports. Included in the all-star lineup are Gloria Estefan, 'N Sync, Marc Anthony, Britney Spears, Gladys Knight, Ricky Martin and Diana Ross. Jackson also is scheduled to be reunited on stage with his brothers. Jackson, 42, is to perform songs from his upcoming album, "Invincible." CBS is expected to broadcast the concert at a later date. Rhames, other stars go 'Undercover' on NBCLOS ANGELES, California -- NBC is counting on star appeal to lure viewers to its new drama "UC: Undercover." Actors Ving Rhames ("Baby Boy") and Steven Bauer ("Traffic") and model-actress Angie Everhart are among the celebrities who have signed on for several episodes, Variety reports. Rhames is set to appear in three episodes as drug lord Quito Real, which "UC" producer Shane Salerno calls "a radically cool honor." "This guy's cool with a capital 'K,'" he says. Regulars on the show include William Forsythe and Oded Fehr of "The Mummy Returns." |
