showbuzzJanet Jackson postpones Canadian concertVANCOUVER, British Columbia -- Janet Jackson has delayed her concert in Vancouver and instead is expected to kick off her "All for You" tour in Portland, Oregon. The July 5 concert at General Motors Place in Vancouver has been moved to July 9 because some of Jackson's stage set hasn't arrived in time for rehearsal, according to an announcement on her Web site. "Janet has really enjoyed her stay in Vancouver and wants to make sure that Vancouver fans are treated to the best show possible," says the announcement, which attributes the problem to the long Canada Day weekend and the July 4 holiday. The tour now is scheduled to open July 7 at the Rose Garden Arena in Portland, followed by a July 8 performance at Key Arena in Seattle, Washington. New Orleans names airport after Louis ArmstrongNEW ORLEANS, Louisiana -- When jazz lovers flock to New Orleans to appreciate its jazz heritage, they'll soon pass through an airport named after "Satchmo." Next month, it will become Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport, thanks to a unanimous vote Thursday by the city council, the Associated Press reports. The name change, proposed by Mayor Marc Morial, takes effect August 2, two days before what would have been the trumpeter's 100th birthday. Armstrong died in 1971 at age 69. "This is something that should have been done a long time ago," council member Oliver Thomas said. Bacon nominates his group for 'Most Boring Bands'NEW YORK -- Don't expect hotel mayhem and other obnoxious antics when the Bacon Brothers hit the concert trail. "We're famous for going to the hotel rooms and actually cleaning them up," says actor Kevin Bacon, who moonlights with brother Michael in a rock 'n' roll band. Bacon, who starred as a small-town rebel in "Footloose" (1984), says his band's act wouldn't make for a particularly engaging VH1 special. "Ours would be so boring that they would have to do a special edition of 'Behind the Music: Most Boring Bands,'" he says in the July 9 edition of People magazine. The Bacon Brothers have a new CD, "Can't Complain," and are scheduled to tour through September 3. 'Furious' actor enjoys 'toy' sports carNEW YORK -- The drive-through window's not quite so convenient for Paul Walker these days. The actor, who plays an undercover detective pretending to be a racer in the action car flick "The Fast and the Furious," drives a Nissan Skyline sports car with a steering wheel on the right side. He calls it his toy, but acknowledges it produces some bizarre moments. "I pull up to the drive-through window and then I get out of my car, walk around, hand them the cash and then walk back around with the food, get in and go," he tells the Associated Press. |
