CNN nominated for 5 news, documentary Emmys
CNN has been nominated for five news and documentary Emmy awards, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences announced. CNN was nominated for awards in the following categories:
Outstanding instant coverage of a news story On February 25, 2000, jurors acquitted four white New York City police officers of all charges in the death of Amadou Diallo, an unarmed black man who was hit by 19 of 41 shots fired at him in the vestibule of his Bronx home. Deborah Feyerick and Maria Hinojosa covered the story with CNN Newsstand anchors Stephen Frazier and Greta Van Susteren.
Outstanding instant coverage of a news story in a regularly scheduled newscast, segments
Early in the morning on April 22, 2000, federal agents stormed the Miami home where Elian Gonzalez had been staying and took the 6-year-old boy away with them. CNN's Brian Cabell was there, covering the raid and the riots that followed.
