Spielberg's 'AI' has Web heads spinning
(CNN) -- Who is Evan Chan and why was he murdered in the year 2142? Thousands of Web surfers are trying to find the answer. Steven Spielberg's "AI" releases this summer, and one of the names listed in the movie's trailer is Jeanine Salla, credited as a Sentient Machine Therapist. A Web search of that name leads to hundreds of Web pages about thinking robots, robot liberation and a murder mystery -- all in the future.
This mystery goes way beyond "Blair Witch" and has chat rooms all over the country buzzing and working together to solve various puzzles and, ultimately, the case. Is it all part of a million-dollar Internet PR campaign for the film? Or are Web heads spinning their own cyber fantasy? James Hattori has the answer. |
