Review: Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX

GameProWorld
  GALLERY

(IDG) -- Mr. BMX sensation, Dave Mirra, finally comes to the Dreamcast after a so-so stint on the PlayStation. Unfortunately, he brings the same dismal gameplay and other poor elements to what could've been a great game. Terrible visuals and poor controls bring Dave Mirra's score to a deserving low. Despite the alternative background music by well-known artists (the game's only positive feature), Dave Mirra Freestyle has no style at all. Skip it at all costs.

While the riders, their threads, and their bikes look sharp, there's still draw-in-inexcusable on the Dreamcast. Also, the collision-detection hasn't been fully tuned-you can ride through walls and get stuck halfway through obstacles.

The solid soundtrack is the only plus in this awful game. Hip, alternative music by well-known artists like Cypress Hill rocks through each level without missing a beat.

Features

Slow and unresponsive button responses lead to unfairly low scores. Also, the camera angles can leave you in an awkward position that can be hard to maneuver out of.

As with its PlayStation counterpart, it's best to not even play Dave Mirra. The gameplay is incomplete with inexcusably terrible graphics and thumb-numbing controls.
