BeVocal gives a voice to wireless messaging
(IDG) -- You have voice mail messages and e-mail messages. But what you really need is a way to organize all of your messages together. BeVocal has something that could help, and you can use it without ever typing. On Tuesday, the company launched its "total messaging solution" for voice-based dialing and messaging in Las Vegas on the first day of the CTIA Wireless 2001 conference, organized by the Cellular Telecommunications and Internet Association.
The Total Messaging Solution, an application and services suite, includes a voice dialer, e-mail-over-phone service, address book, and message notification applications. It also features voice authentication security for use with the other services. The suite can deliver information to Wireless Application Protocol clients, send a fax, send an e-mail message, or act as a text pager, BeVocal says in a statement. Using the package, a customer can dial the phone and listen to and respond to e-mail messages without touching a button. The address book can hold contact information for up to 500 people, and as well as being integrated with the dialer and e-mail service, it can also be synched up with programs including Microsoft's Outlook or a Palm OS-based handheld device. The e-mail notification program can be scheduled to send automatic alerts when time-critical information is received. BeVocal's applications can be hosted by BeVocal, run on a wireless operator's network, or used as a corporate voice portal in the enterprise. In a related announcement, Qwest Communications International announced that it will begin offering BeVocal's voice dialer and address book services to its U.S. wireless customers later this month.
