Review: Best big monitors
(IDG) -- Since October, when we last reviewed 21- and 22-inch monitors, vendors have discontinued several models, including the Best Buy Compaq P1100; they've also introduced worthy replacements. Mitsubishi's Diamond Pro 2060u performs best, but Samsung's SyncMaster 1200NF and ViewSonic's P225F nearly match its quality at lower prices. Top 21-Inch-Plus Monitors1. Samsung SyncMaster 1200NF: This great all-around monitor is a good buy for people on a tight budget who work with graphics as part of their job, or for business users who crave a big screen.
2. ViewSonic P225F: A moderate price and striking color make this display a solid choice if you work heavily with graphic images. 3. Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 2060u: With top-notch performance in displaying both text and graphics, the Diamond Pro 2060u is a fine pick for graphic designers, desktop publishers, and anyone else who works with complex images. 4. NEC MultiSync FE1250+: A bit pricey for its targeted mainstream buyer, the FE1250+ is a suitable choice if you're looking for acres of screen real estate for general computing work. 5. Sony CPD-G520: With its good-looking case and passable image quality, the CPD-G520 is a fit for the corporate professionals to which it's targeted. And the dual inputs will come in handy for application developers switching between multiple PCs. 6. Hitachi CM813 Plus: The CM813 Plus would be a good choice for those with cramped desktops, but better image quality for a lower price is available elsewhere. 7. Eizo Nanao FlexScan T962: : In our image quality tests, the FlexScan T962 proved disappointing -- especially so considering this monitor's high $1339 price tag. Based on the model we looked at, we'd pass on the FlexScan T962. RELATED STORIES:
