Close encounters of the shark kind cause concern
(CNN) -- Shark encounters don't usually incite argument, but in Florida such a debate is brewing. Dive companies are offering customers the chance to get close and personal with these intimidating animals. Nearly 20 feet below the surface, divers gather around a dive master, who then holds a feeding tube filled with fish to lure the sharks closer to the group. The dive companies say these trips are both educational and safe, but some advocacy groups don't agree. Opponents fear the safety of coastal swimmers and divers could be at risk and that the natural behavior of the sharks is being compromised. CNN's Mark Potter investigates. |
