Washington airports likely closed all day
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- A spokeswoman for the agency that runs both Reagan
National Airport and Washington Dulles International Airport said no scheduled
flights are likely Wednesday, even if the Federal Aviation Administration lifts
a national airspace lockdown.
Tara Hamilton, spokeswoman for the Metropolitan Washington Airports
Authority, told CNN they are "not anticipating any scheduled flights today."
Dulles was the originating airport for American Airlines Flight 77 to
Los Angeles. The 757 with 64 people on board was hijacked and crashed a short
distance away at the Pentagon.
Wednesday, under restricted access, only the airport's baggage claim area
will be opened.
Officials have said passengers will be able to retrieve luggage left
behind when the airport was evacuated and closed Tuesday at about 3 p.m. EDT.
