Los Angeles airport reinstates curbside service

LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- Los Angeles International Airport will re-open the curbside drop-off and pick-up of passengers beginning Saturday, Los Angeles Mayor James Hahn said.

The airport had imposed a ban on all auto traffic with the exception of shuttle and taxi service in the wake of the September 11 terrorist attacks.

The airport was the scheduled destination of three of the four planes that crashed on September 11.

Hahn warned motorists that the airport is, however, instituting a "zero tolerance policy" with respect to unattended vehicles and said that anyone leaving a vehicle at curbside would face stiff fines and immediate towing.
