Security breach stops BWI concourse trafficBALTIMORE, Maryland (CNN) -- The Federal Aviation Administration ordered a concourse at Baltimore-Washington International Airport shut down and evacuated Wednesday morning, after an incident at a security checkpoint. BWI spokesman John White said that he had no details on the incident, but said Concourse C was closed for an hour and forty minutes, reopening just before 8 a.m. EDT. "Right now they're working with our police calling out flight numbers to get (passengers) through as smoothly as possible," he said. White said 17 flights were affected -- four American, two Southwest, two Northwest, five Delta and four Continental. All passengers were evacuated, and Maryland Transportation Authority Police conducted a "canine sweep" and declared the area secure. |
