Propane tanker explodes in New Mexico

Flames light up the sky after several propane tanks exploded in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico

TRUTH OR CONSEQUENCES, New Mexico (CNN) -- A propane tanker exploded Sunday night near the center of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, catching several structures, including a business, on fire, a police dispatcher said.

It was unclear whether the explosion, which happened at about 7:30 p.m., caused any injuries, said Truth or Consequences Police dispatcher Dixie Fisher.

"They're just now getting things at least a little bit under control," she said. Residents of the immediate area were evacuated briefly but were cleared to return two hours later.

Fisher said police were still investigating what caused the tanker to explode.
