Cheers rain down at Baltimore Ravens victory parade

BALTIMORE, Maryland -- Thousands of cheering fans clad in purple and black greeted the Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens during a victory parade Tuesday in the city's downtown.

"Purple passion" flowed as team players rode in 30 Humvees to a huge stage at War Memorial Plaza where Baltimore Mayor Martin O'Malley greeted them.

Most Valuable Player Ray Lewis delighted onlookers as he danced in the middle of the street, and Ravens' president David Modell walked the parade route carrying the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

The rain-drenched morning failed to dampen spirits, as umbrellas moved up and down and hands waved left and right in time to the beat of the Ravens Marching Band.

Police had estimated that more than 100,000 people would show up to celebrate.

This is the first Super Bowl win for the Baltimore Ravens, who replaced the former Colts team in 1995.
