Scaffolding collapses outside Oscar site, 5 hurt
LOS ANGELES (CNN) -- Scaffolding outside the Shrine Auditorium, home to Sunday's Oscar ceremony, fell 20 feet Thursday, injuring five people, officials said. Bob Collis of the Los Angeles Fire Department said one person was in critical condition, one in serious and two others suffered minor injuries. A fifth person was border line serious to minor, with a non-lifethreatening injury, he said. The cause of the collapse was not immediately known. The multi-tiered scaffolding fell onto the red carpet area being prepared for the celebrities who make their through the news media before entering the Academy Awards ceremony.
