Bus overturns outside St. Louis; injuries minorTROY, Illinois (CNN) -- A Greyhound bus with 22 passengers aboard overturned in southern Illinois early Sunday, slightly injuring most passengers and the driver, police said. The St. Louis-bound bus was on Interstate 55 a few miles outside the city when it went off the highway into the grassy median. As the driver tried to get the bus back on the roadway, it flipped onto its right side, said Master Sgt. Roger Hayes of the Illinois State Police. "It flipped on its right side and started sliding," Hayes said. The accident occurred about 6:40 CST (7:40 EST). Hayes said road conditions were clear and dry, and authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident. The driver and all 22 passengers were taken to two area hospitals. Hayes said some of the passengers refused treatment, and those who were treated sustained non-lifethreatening injuries. "All the injuries appear to be minor," he said. Hayes said Greyhound has sent buses to the hospitals to transport the passengers on to St. Louis. RELATED SITES:
