Skydiving plane crashes in Texas field
DECATUR, Texas (CNN) -- A plane carrying 17 to 19 people crashed in an empty field near a creek Saturday afternoon 10 miles east of Decatur, Texas, officials said. No one was killed, though seven people were taken by helicopter to a hospital in Fort Worth, 45 miles south, a Wise County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman said. The extent of their injuries was unknown. Several others were taken to Wise Regional Hospital in Decatur, she said. The accident occurred in a region called Skydive, named for a skydive company based there, said Officer Cliff Swofford of the Decatur Police Department. An FAA spokesman identified the plane as a DeHavilland and said it's owned by or maintained by a parachuting company. RELATED STORIES: Answers sought in Aspen plane crash RELATED SITES:
