Worker rescued from top of tower
GAINESVILLE, Georgia (CNN) -- Emergency crews used an Army Blackhawk helicopter Thursday to rescue an injured worker from the top of a communications tower. A rescuer climbed the tower, strapped the man into a basket, and raised him into the helicopter. The aircraft then took him to the Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville. A spokeswoman for the hospital said the man, 19, was in satisfactory condition and would be kept overnight for observation. She would not say what injury he suffered. A Gainesville Fire Department spokeswoman said it was not clear how the man was injured. He was lying in a platform at the top of the tower when workers reached him. Gainesville is about 40 miles northeast of Atlanta. RELATED SITES:
