Rolling Thunder rides to remember POW-MIAs

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Thousands of motorcyclists from across the country took part in the annual Rolling Thunder Memorial Day ride Sunday, an event meant to draw attention to prisoners of war and those missing in action.

Organizers said 200,000 motorcycles participated this year.

The three-hour procession of motorcycles started at the Pentagon parking lot, crossed over the Memorial Bridge and finished at the Lincoln Memorial.

Following the ride, the bikers were addressed by former Miss America Heather French, Sen. Ben Nighthorse Campbell, R-Colorado, and "Good Morning Vietnam" disc jockey Adrian Cronauer. Speakers talked about the need to provide health care and benefits to veterans and called for a commitment to find soldiers lost in war.

Many of the riders were Vietnam veterans, some of whom gathered at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial after the procession.
