Why? Jeff Greenfield has spent more than 20 years as a TV journalist, analyst, and anchor -- as well as a best-selling author. He knows how to use wit, humor, history, and tough-minded analysis to bring news home, to engage viewers.

In that spirit, Jeff's guests aren't the usual talking-head pundits and combatants. You won't see politicians and their flacks popping up to spin the day's news. You won't find celebrities flogging their latest books, movies, or hair-care products.

Instead, guests with widely different backgrounds -- writers, athletes, business folks, actors, teachers, who knows what else -- will offer their observations and notions... views you're not likely to hear anywhere else.

While the program takes serious news seriously, it doesn't take itself seriously. It will find time every once in a while to play around -- even if it's at Jeff's expense.
