New York rally condems Tel Aviv attack
NEW YORK (CNN) -- Roughly 3,000 demonstrators rallied in front of the Israeli Consulate Sunday, condemning the deaths of 20 young Israelis who were killed by a suicide bomber's attack on a Tel Aviv night club. The bomber -- identified by Israeli and Palestinian sources as a 22-year-old Palestinian -- also died in the attack. There has been no official claim of responsibility for Friday's attack. Rabbi Avi Weiss and Mayor Rudy Giuliani were among those who criticized what they described as Palestinian terrorism being waged against Israeli citizens. Several supporters of Israel carried signs that read "Israel forever" and "Arafat: Stop teaching hatred of Jews." The protest was held outside the Israeli Consulate on the east side of Manhattan. |
