Texas roller coaster gets stuck -- at top

ARLINGTON, Texas (CNN) -- A safety system that detected a computer glitch on a roller coaster at Six Flags Over Texas kicked in and stopped the ride at its highest point Wednesday, stranding a number of passengers.

The ride, called the Titan, got stuck about 11 a.m. About an hour later, park employees climbed to the top of the ride and helped escort the passengers off the cars and down to the ground, using steps that parallel the tracks. There were at least 20 passengers in the ride's five cars.

The Six Flags Web site says the Titan rises 255 feet above the ground. Its grand slope drops the coaster at 85 miles per hour into a 120-foot long tunnel. The ride takes about three-and-a-half minutes and is advertised as one of the biggest roller coasters in the region. The Titan opened this year.

The amusement park is 16 miles from Dallas.
