Three missing FBI computers found

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Government sources told CNN Thursday that three of the 184 laptop computers reported missing last week have been found, and the sources say none of the missing computers contained any classified information -- contrary to initial reports.

Several guns also have also been found, out of the 449 originally reported missing. The sources said that also contrary to information first released by the FBI, one of the guns was used in an assault and not a homicide.

The agency said it has tentatively determined that of the missing weapons, 184 weapons of various types had been stolen, most of them from vehicles during the past 11 years.

The FBI attributed many of the missing laptops to the lack of documentation when they destroyed outmoded virtually worthless computers with 286 and 386 chips.

The nominee to head the FBI, Robert Mueller, is expected to face tough questioning from lawmakers about how he would improve things at the agency on Monday, the first day of his confirmation hearing.
