Police rescue stranded fishermenNEW YORK (CNN) -- Police raced against the rising tide Tuesday to rescue three men stranded on a concrete tower just off shore in Queens.
Police said the men had walked out to the cement channel marker at Breezy Point on rocks but became stranded on the jetty when the tide came in. A police helicopter lowered a basket down to the men. One rescuer swam out to the structure to help to load them in and take them to safety. Rescuers worked frantically as waves from the rising tide threatened to sweep the men off the structure. |
