Deadly accident closes Pennsylvania highwayWEST CHESTER, Pennsylvania (CNN) -- One person is dead, another was injured and a third was trapped in a truck cab after an accident involving a tractor-trailer and a passenger van on U.S. Route 202 near Philadelphia, police said. The crash, which happened shortly after 9 a.m., closed the four-lane highway, located in Chester County, both northbound and southbound, according to Patty Mains, public information officer of the Chester County Department of Emergency Services. A West Goshen Township police news release said three people were involved in the accident and confirmed the fatality. Another person was flown to Brandywine Trauma Center and then flown to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. The tractor-trailer driver was trapped in his vehicle but conscious after the truck flipped on its side, spilling hazardous materials onto the road. |
