Government: No safety defect in Chrysler minivans
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The nation's top safety regulators said Tuesday an investigation showed no fuel leak problems with 2.8 million Chrysler minivans. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said there are no current safety defects in the Dodge Caravan, Plymouth Voyager or Chrysler Town and Country. Last June, NHTSA began looking into the possibility that the minivans manufactured from 1996 through 2000 were experiencing fuel leakage problems when the left side of the vehicle was impacted. Earlier this year, Daimler Chrysler began installing new door locks on about 136,000 2001 model Caravans, Voyagers, and Town and Country minivans after NHTSA tests showed the sliding doors on some models separated from the vehicles in side-impact crashes. |
