Franks salutes U.S. troops in holiday messageWASHINGTON (CNN) -- In the midst of the U.S.-led war on terrorism and continuing military operations in Afghanistan, Gen. Tommy Franks, commander of U.S. Central Command, issued holiday greetings Monday to the troops under his command. "To the men and women of U.S. Central Command: "This holiday season will find many of you away from home and some of you in harm's way, defending our nation as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. Your devotion to duty, personal courage and professional excellence attest to the character of the American spirit and serve as an inspiration to all Americans. "I'm honored to serve alongside you and our coalition partners as we endeavor to eradicate global terrorism and bring true peace and security to the family of nations. I wish all of you a safe and happy holiday season. As you stand point, know that the citizens of our great nation stand justly proud of you and support you in this time of crisis. "God bless you and God bless America." |
